This is atrocious. The Rich think they can do any thing and get away with it. I was roommate's with him. And one thing I know is how much uncle liked biking and how much regards he had for safety while driving. This is tragic and the accused should get the highest punishment possible for negligence and ending a young life.

So a "Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs" - one of the few dozen people in charge of formulating economic policy in a multi-trillion dollar economy rides a motorcycle to take his wife for religious services, while a leather products manufacturer drives a BMW.

I really hope he was riding the motorcycle to prevent being stuck in traffic because if he was doing it out of economic necessity, something is really screwed up with government pay structures - and no wonder people are tempted by corruption.

Deputy secretary is not a very big post. The guy most likely started as an ASO and got promoted over time. For context Deputy Secretary is the starting level post for IAS if they are probationer in the ministry. So it is quite possible he didn’t have a shit ton of money as many of you are alluding to. Contrary to popular belief people working at lower pedestals in the central ministries donot get a lot of bribes compared to your local beat constable or revenue officer. Only the top echelons in the ministries are filthy rich. Just wanted to add context

Driving in Delhi is horrible. I barely drive, usually 1-4 times a month, and it exhausts me every time. People not following rules, inching up  to your car behind you, weaving through traffic, honking their horns unnecessarily, speeding, etc. Just yesterday, a tractor suddenly drove up the barrier, which was covered in shrubs and trees (so I couldn't really see it) and almost rammed right into my car, just to avoid going a couple of kms to make a u-turn. I genuinely thought I would get injured. Everyday that you don't die whilst driving amongst idiots is a blessing. 

The sad part is that driving license tests in Delhi are actually prefty hard, but corruption and bribery is so rampant that any loser with ₹5k can get a license. 

Idiots like the person who couldn't differentiate between the accelerator and brake, and drove their new Thar right off the showroom, comprise the majority of drivers in Delhi.

Sandeep Kaur ma'am is one of the teachers who I have core memories with, she made me actually like coming to school.

I think the crank hub is an overblown issue if you’re going to keep it stock, especially considering how expensive the fix is, but as someone who lives in pothole and road debris heaven, definitely get the oil cooler guard

MAD makes a great oil cooler guard that is substantially cheaper than the other brands. Call Mike at XPH (yes you need to call, they can't advertise lower prices on the website due to MAP restrictions) and he will hook you up.

You don't need to do the crank hub unless you are looking for more power than just an OTS stage 1 tune. Start with MHD or BM3 stage 1 and go from there.

If you are going to modify the car, the formula for 650 "reliable" WHP (on 93 pump gas) is:

* Pinned crank hub
* High flow downpipes
* Upgraded charge pipes
* Upgraded J pipe
* Exhaust (you really only need a midpipe)
* Pure stage 2+ turbos (or mossleman)
* Custom tune (Paul Johnson or Cary Jordan will take care of you)

There is a lot of overhead in this setup for more power, but you will need to upgrade fueling (HPFP or lift kit &amp; injectors). You can run ethanol with a flex fuel sensor and tune, but you will max out the stock fueling around E50.

It's also worth upgrading cooling if you plan on tracking the car (charge cooler, heat exchanger, oil cooler, trans cooler, auxiliary coolers), but you won't add any more horsepower doing that.

Intakes are cool but are really for looks only. The OEM intakes with drop in filters show the best dyno numbers. Although they are appealing due to looks, sound and price - don't do front mount intakes unless you want to clean them all the time.

Don’t need a crank hub if you’re keeping it stock. Then again, if you have the $, it’s never bad for peace of mind.

Beyond that, keep up with regular maintenance, and maybe replace the charge pipes.

If you’re going to run a tune, crank hub for sure. I spun mine and needed a new motor (contact in two cylinders). Or at least put $ aside in case it spins.

Oil cooler guard is totally optional imho. Few things will completely protect it anyways.

Rear diff bushings commonly fail at 50k miles resulting in clunking noise when accelatoring at low speeds. Nothing major - you can get performance bushings to replace OEM but I heard it affects the ride. Otherwise - I’ve had my f80 for nearly 3 years and it still puts a smile on my face.
